Authorized by Section 1915 (C) of the Social Security Act, the Mississippi Medicaid Program may waive certain Medicaid statutory requirements that enable the state to cover an array of Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) as an alternative to institutionalization. The Elderly and Disabled Waiver provides services to individuals who would otherwise require the level of care found in a nursing facility. Personal Care Services (PCS) are non-medical support services to assist the waiver participant and ensure that they are able to stay in their home and local community as long as possible.
PCS services include assistance with:
- Eating
- Bathing
- Dressing
- Personal hygiene
- Activities of daily living
- Prompt the participant to perform tasks
- Essential housekeeping services
- Assist the participant in accessing community resources and activities
