Respite Services

In-home respite services help provide assistance to individuals unable to care for themselves; furnished on a short-term basis because of need for relief of those persons normally providing the care.

Respite service is non-medical care and supervision provided to the client in the absence of the client’s primary full-time caregiver and/or as scheduled relief to the primary caregiver to prevent, delay, or avoid premature institutionalization of the client.  The provider is to provide companionship and general supervision to the client, such as reminders to take medications, warming meals, or assistance with mobility.

These services are provided in the home of the client.  The client must be homebound due to physical or mental impairments, requires 24-hour assistance of the caregiver, and is unable to be left unattended for any period of time.
